Iran To Resume Dairy Exports To Iraq
Iran announced dairy exports to Iraq will resume after an investigation by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) indicated foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is under control in the country.
Iraq’s ban on dairy imports from Iran was lifted after the OIE released a report on May 31 confirming FMD was under control in Iran.
Iraq expressed a willingness to lift the ban after the OIE investigation.
The import of dairy products from Iran was banned by Iraq on May 26 due to the fear of infection from FMD, which according to Iranian media, caused the death of some 16,000 livestock over the past two months in the country.
