Peshmerga Repel Isis Attack West Of Kirkuk

Peshmerga forces repelled an attack by the Islamic State (ISIS) near Kharabarut village west of Kirkuk, a Kurdish commander said Monday (July 4).

Nahro Koyi, commander of the Peshmerga’s 11th Brigade, told that one Peshmerga was wounded and at least one ISIS member was killed in clashes that began early Monday.

Koyi also said militants abandoned their positions, weapons and ammunitions as they retreated from the area after close to an hour of fighting.

ISIS last attacked Peshmerga positions near Kharabarut on May 30, launching an attack from three directions on Kurdish forces.
