Iraqi President Arrives In Jordan For World Economic Forum

Iraqi President Fuad Masoum arrived in Jordan on the official invitation of King Abdullah on Thursday (May 18) to attend the World Economic Forum held at the Dead Sea and due to begin on Friday (May 19).

The Iraqi Presidency said in a statement that Masoum, accompanied by a high level delegation, will participate in the forum on the Middle East and North Africa.

The Iraqi President is expected to meet with Jordan’s King Abdullah to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and to give a speech at the forum.

Masoud Barzani met earlier on Thursday (May 18) with King Abdullah ahead of World Economic Forum for talks on the fight against terrorism and the latest political developments.

The World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa will address continued geopolitical shifts and humanitarian challenges in Syria, Iraq and Libya as well as the ongoing refugee crisis and youth empowerment in the region.

The forum, which lasts for three days, will host one thousand international figures and representatives of government, business and civil society from more than 50 countries.
