Iraqi Parliament Delays Vote on Two Articles from Provincial Council’s Proposal
The Iraqi Parliament has postponed votes on two articles of a proposal from the Iraqi Provincial Councils specific to the Kirkuk Governorate.
Source said the Iraqi Parliament held a session on Saturday (August 19) to vote on the proposal’s two articles.
Parliament, for the fifth time, has postponed the vote, which is set to be held on Monday (August 21).
The articles, 37 and 52, are specific to the future of Kirkuk and the distribution of power as well as a review of the voting lists.
The Iraqi Parliament has failed to vote on several terms of the proposal specific to the election of the Kirkuk Provincial Council in previous sessions.
The Iraqi Parliament on August 7 approved 45 articles out of 53 from the proposal from the Iraqi Provincial Councils. Parliament since then has postponed votes on the two articles related to the election of the Kirkuk Provincial Council.
