Iraq's Foreign Minister Welcomes French Counterpart in Baghdad

Iraq's Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari welcomed his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian and the French Defence Minister, Florence Parly, to Baghdad.

The pair held a meeting with al-Jaafari ahead of a scheduled press conference later in the day.

Le Drian and Parly are on a visit to the country on Saturday (August 26) to enhance relations between France and Iraq.

Iraqi state television reported that French officials will also hold talks with Iraqi officials over fight against Islamic State (ISIS) and stabilization efforts in the recently liberated areas as well as increased humanitarian assistance to the displaced families.

France is a main partner in the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State (ISIS) helping Baghdad to fight the militants who seized parts of Iraq and Syria in 2014.
