U.S. Embassy Says Returned Antique Chess Set Owned By Saddam Hussein

 The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has announced an artifact stolen after the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003 was returned to the Iraq.

The FBI recovered an antique chess set which belonged to Saddam Hussein, according to a statement the embassy released on Saturday (September 3).

“Yesterday the U.S. Embassy met with the Deputy Minister of Culture for Antiquities & Heritage Affairs Qais Rasheed to return an antique chess set, owned by Saddam Hussein, stolen in 2003 and recovered by the FBI,” the statement read.
