U.S. Military Base Comes under Attack of Suicide Bombers near Makhmour
A U.S. military base came under attack of suicide bombers near Makhmour, southeast of Mosul on Sunday (September 17).
The U.S.-led coalition confirmed the news in a statement, saying three attackers were killed by security forces.
“Three attackers with small arms and suicide vests were killed by security forces. No Coalition forces were injured in the attack,” the coalition statement read.
A commander from Iraqi army, Amin Shekhani said that four Islamic State suicide bombers launched the suicide attack near the village of Pungene.
Two of the suicide bombers were caught in gunshot of the U.S. servicemen before reaching their target while the two other militants blew themselves up.
Shekahni said no casualties have been reported, citing the U.S. servicemen.
