Iraqi Electoral Commission Sets Date for General Elections
Iraq’s electoral commission set, on Sunday (October 22), a date for the country’s general elections to be held next year.
The deputy head of the Iraqi commission, Kate al-Zubaei said that May 12, 2018 has been set as a date to hold the elections.
The timing is yet to be presented by the commission in a parliament session and be put into a vote to be approved.
The commission said, within scope of certain Iraq laws, the general election must be held before the end of the current parliament term.
