Kurdistan Prime Minister to Meet With French President on Saturday
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani is on an official visit to Paris where he is set to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday (December 2).
Kurdistan representative in Paris, Ali Dolamari said that Barzani is in Paris on an official invitation by Macron and will be received by French officials at Elysee Palace on Saturday.
Barzani and Macron will discuss ways to address issues between Erbil and Baghdad as well as bilateral relations between France and the Kurdistan Region, Dolamari said.
Barzani is accompanied by his Deputy Qubad Talabani, former Chief of the Staff to the President Fuad Hussein, and the spokesman of the Kurdistan Regional Government Safeen Dizayee.
Anadolu Agency reported that the Kurdish prime minister arrived in Turkey through Habur border crossing and headed to Istanbul by a special aircraft from Sirnak Serafettin Elci Airport.
Since the Kurdistan Region held a referendum on independence of Kurdistan in September, the government of Iraq has banned international flights to and from the Kurdistan Region’s airports.
